Reception 2022

We have loved welcoming so many of our prosepctive parents into school over the last few days. We hope you found the presentation from Mrs Briggs, Mrs Wilding and Mrs Wrangles useful and enjoyed being led around our lovely school by our Vice and House Captains.

We recognise that this is a very important decision for you to make, so should you have any further questions or missed out on the chance to see our school, please do not hesitate to give us a ring on 01925 728176 or drop us an email at admin@greatsankeyprimary.tcat.uk.com and we will be happy to speak with you or arrange an additional visit.

The PowerPoint presentation which was shown to you at the open event is available for you to see below along with a virtual tour of the school under the Reception 2021 heading.

Reception 2021

During the COVID-19 restrictions placed on schools in 2020-21, events we would normally have ran looked a little different. These restrictions made us think more creatively about how we welcomed you into our school as prospective parents. We recognised that this is an important decision and it is vital you get to see the workings of Great Sankey Primary to make sure it aligns with your own ethos, values and beliefs for your child.

Please click on the picture below which will take you on a full virtual tour of the school, just as if you were attending an event in person.

Foundation Stage - Reception

During the Autumn term, the school holds an open evening and walk-rounds for prospective parents and families for the following September reception intake. These sessions allow parents and carers to meet with the Executive Headteacher- Mrs Briggs, the Head of School - Mrs Wilding and the Senior Leadership Team and to look around the school. It also enables families to listen to the vision and ethos of Great Sankey Primary and visit classrooms. The tour of the school is led by our House and Vice Captains from Year 6 to allow parents to get a holistic view of Great Sankey Primary.

Parents must then follow the school's admission policy procedures should you wish for your child to attend Great Sankey Primary. Once a place is offered in the Spring term, pupils and parents are invited back into school to meet with the staff. Early Years staff will also make contact to visit your child in their nursery or pre-school setting or at home during Summer term. These meetings then inform our class structures ready for September.

During June / July, the children are invited into school to experience a morning or afternoon session with their class teacher and new friends. In September, further transition is built in where the children will attend school part-time for either morning or afternoon sessions. Throughout this period, staff liaise with families to ensure a smooth and happy transition. In addition to this, we hold a further parent meeting in October as well as parents' evenings throughout the year and Stay and Play sessions where you are invited into your child's classroom to watch your child learning.
